RDS DB clusters should have enough backup retention period set

Description

Flags Amazon RDS DB clusters whose backup retention period is shorter than 7 days. A short retention window narrows the recovery point objective and reduces the time available to detect and respond to data corruption.

Remediation

Modify each affected DB cluster and set BackupRetentionPeriod to at least 7 days.

Steps

  1. Open the Amazon RDS console and select the DB cluster.
  2. Choose Modify.
  3. Under Backup, set Backup retention period to 7 or more days.
  4. Save the changes.
