EBS volumes should be in a backup plan

Description

Checks whether Amazon EBS volumes are covered by a backup plan.

Remediation

To comply with this control, ensure that Amazon EBS volumes are included in a backup plan. Use AWS Backup to create and manage backup plans.

Steps

  1. Sign in to the AWS Management Console and open the AWS Backup console at https://console.aws.amazon.com/backup/.
  2. In the AWS Backup console, click on 'Backup plans' in the left navigation pane.
  3. Click on 'Create backup plan' to create a new plan, or select an existing plan to modify.
  4. In the backup plan, add a new rule or edit an existing rule.
  5. Under 'Resource assignment', select 'Assign resources'.
  6. Define a resource assignment that includes the EBS volumes you want to back up.
  7. Specify the backup frequency, retention period, and other settings as required.
  8. Click on 'Create assignment' or 'Save' to apply the changes.
