Athena data catalogs should be tagged
Description
Flags Amazon Athena data catalogs that have no user-defined tags. Tags help with ownership attribution, cost allocation, and incident triage; untagged catalogs are operationally opaque.
Remediation
Apply at least one user-defined tag to every Athena data catalog.
Steps
- Open the Athena console and choose Data sources.
- Select the affected data catalog.
- Choose Tags and add at least one tag with a non-aws: prefixed key (e.g. Owner, Environment).
- Save the changes.
